ADF After Action Report: UGE-17846
We received a distress call from the local police force from the Alesian city of Wheymeyer. They reported seeing a Blood Dragon lance heading their way and were able to give us a general idea on their approximate location and bearing. After reporting to HQ, our lance was ordered to prevent the town from falling into enemy hands. We then approached the town, and as we did so, an enemy (Blood Dragon forces) approached at the same time.
Their forces consisted of the following Battlemechs.
Our forces consisted of the following units.
Hermes II 40
The enemy broke up into two units, the first flanking around to the East of the town, and the other moving straight toward the town from the North West. They beat us to the town, and commenced destroying buildings and shooting vehicles and civilians. Our forces also split input two groups, with our light mechs (Jenner and Vulcan) circling around the flank to the East, while our remaining mechs (Marauder, Hemers 2 and Dervish) hooked around to the West to meet oncoming enemy forces. As we begin to engage the enemy, their Mechs in the town peeled away to deal with the threat posed by our light mechs. Although the Clint was a fast mech, the Grasshopper was woefully outmatched by the speed and cunning of our light mechs in the dense terrain. Our Vulcan, and in particular, our Jenner, were giving them fits.
On the other side of the field, the enemy Shadowhawk was doing a brilliant job in a chess match against our Marauder and Hermes. The enemy Javelin was also there supporting the Shadowhawk. At this point, our Dervish disengaged and crossed the field to help deal with weight mismatch on the right flank. The enemy, seeing the threat caused by this shift, directed their Trebuchet and Javelin that direction as well, leaving the Shadowhawk to deal with our Marauder and Hermes by himself. However, our Dervish got to the right flank first, helping to turn the tide in our favor. The Jenner and Vulcan continued to harass the enemy, eventually resulting in the Clint being disabled. As our Vulcan mech moved in, the Clint, in an unusual act of defiance, and what could only be described as suicide, charged in behind our Vulcan, putting his back in optimum range of the Dervish. The Clint killed the Vulcan, as he was destroyed by a combination of the resulting blast, and the firestorm of rounds put into his back by our Dervish.
By this point, the Trebuchet reached the right flank, along with the Javelin. The Jenner immediately pounced on the Trebuchet, who was ill equipped to deal with the speed and firepower of the Jenner at close range. The bravery and cunning of our Jenner mech warrior cannot be understated in this engagement. While the Grasshopper and Trebuchet tangled with the Jenner, the Javelin engaged our Dervish. In a brave move, the Javelin closed with the Dervish. The two exchanged a flurry of fire, and the Dervish killed the Javelin with three well placed shots into the left torso.
The Jenner continued his brutal fight against the Grasshopper and Trebuchet (35 tons versus 55 and 70 tons!) the Hermes broke contact with the enemy Shadowhawk and crossed the field to help with the brutal fight on the right flank. Meanwhile, the Dervish, now void of nearby opponents, crossed to the left flank to assist the Marauder who was valiantly fighting against the stubborn and cunning Shadowhawk. The Marauder and Shadowhawk had exchanged Fire many times, and both were worse for wear. The Dervish ended up hitting the enemy Shadowhawk with a number of laser and missle shots, ultimately knocking him down and causing him to explode. At this point, the combination of the Hermes and the brave and battered Jenner were too much for the Grasshopper and badly damaged Trebuchet who conceded the field to our forces. We let them leave simply because our forces were also battered, our Vulcan destroyed and our Jenner and Marauder badly damaged.
This battle was a near complete victory for us, resulting in the destruction of three enemy mechs, the capture of three of their mech pilots, and control of the field. However we lost a Vulcan mech, as well as a number of civilians and an Alesian apartment building filled with civilians.
